Jack Donohue

Owner

Jack Donohue is the owner of Timber Works Tree Care. He was born in New Hampshire and was a member of the New Hampshire Maple Producers Association.

He worked in the maple syrup industry for 10 years and won 2 Walter A. Felker Memorial Awards for excellence in the maple production industry. Jack moved to Front Royal, VA in 2007 and earned his Bachelors in History from Christendom College.

He resides in Front Royal with his wife, Lauren, and their three children, James, Bridget, and Annie. Jack is currently studying for his Arborist Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture.

How Timber Works Tree Care Began

Jack’s passion for working with trees began over 20 years ago as a young man in New Hampshire in the Maple syrup industry.

His appreciation for tree care grew as he and his family managed the maple trees and maintained the forest around them.

Once Jack moved to Front Royal, he realized the need of a reliable tree service in Virginia, persuading him to start Timber Works Tree Care.

Timber Works was founded on the principles of Hard work, professionalism, and trust. His 3 key motivators to start a tree service but also the 3 qualities he saw a lack of in the industry.

From the initial estimate with Mac all the way until the last tree hit the ground, these guys were fantastic. It’s amazing to see a crew work with such cohesion. They clearly take pride in their work and the crew led by Forman Ben showed up early and stayed until the job was done. We had 7 large trees over and around our house removed. The tactful approach between John 80’ up in the lift, Ben operating the crane, and the rest of the crew was exceptional. They exemplify what a team is and how it should work. Timber Works Tree Care is the most professional and best tree contractor I have contracted with over my 40yrs of home ownership. The are responsive, friendly, organized and do excellent work! From the first phone call through the estimate, scheduling, execution and cleanup they were prompt, attentive and easy to work with. Our job for them was to fell four mature trees about 50ft tall, remove all debris, grind the four stumps and remove a nearby brush pile in our yard. I figured it was likely an all-day job. Well, they sent three people with a chipper, a brush hauler, and a stump grinder. Ryan, Sean, and Ben got the job done in 3.5hrs!! Plus, they wore helmets with face shields and built-in ear protection/radio w/ mics so that they could work safely and efficiently together. Did I mention the price was reasonable, too?! The whole thing was so smooth I almost wish I had more work for them! And we certainly will go to them fist for any future tree-related needs. Thank you, Timber Works!

Great service from the company. We had an arborist come out first to evaluate the property and then had Timber Works come out and evaluate and both had the same recommendations. Timber Works actually identified a cluster of trees that didn't outwardly look like it had any issues, but was very clearly rotted on the inside once it was taken down.The work crew showed up on time with all of the equipment and personnel necessary to take down the identified trees. Everyone was extremely conscientious of making sure that no property was damaged during their operations.Very communicative from the first step through scheduling and then the actual tree removal. Followed up immediately with emails to make sure we were happy with the service. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality tree company. They ended up taking down 8 trees and doing some cabling on some existing trees to keep as much as the forest preserves as possible, so it was not a small job.

This 2nd trip, we had them remove a very old, extremely tall tree overhanging our shed. It was a very dangerous and tricky job as the shed is adjacent to a very deep crevasse. We bought a new house with a lot of trees and were able to get Mac out before we moved in to assess the trees and give us recommendations for pruning and removal. We got an estimate the same day and were able to schedule the same week. We had six trees removed and the rest of the trees pruned and thinned. The guys were efficient and left the property clean. I’ve used Timber Works twice now. First time, they took down a large, dead tree that was too close to the house. They employed state of the art robotics and had it down quickly and safely. Had enough confidence in them to call them back. Second job was taking out dead evergreens (thanks to the deer), tall, overgrown or dead trees threatening the fence and shed, and maintenance of other trees on the property. Our HOA (Frederick Woods) used TimberWorks to cut and remove 7 sizable trees. They also ground the stumps. In addition, we had them clear both sides of a drainage swale for several hundred feet. It was thick with mature brush. We then these guys show up it's a tree removal army. They show up with all the equipment needed to do the job and plenty of manpower. I can’t express enough the professionalism of the team at Timber Works Tree care. From the first day I met with Mac to go over the options, the professional advice, the emails with the office team and finally the team itself that arrived on time as stated to remove the three dead trees, four other trees; including ones for my neighbor. The removal team was safety oriented, fast, had great communication with all my neighbors and did an amazing job. They took care to do as little damage as possible to my neighbor’s yard, cleaned up more that I expected and was done and out before we knew it.
